Imagery from the panchromatic and multispectral sensors can be merged to create 0.82-meter color imagery (pan-sharpened). To date, IKONOS has collected more than 300 million square kilometers of imagery over every continent, and this imagery is being used for national security and military mapping, as well as air and marine transportation. Regional and local governments also rely on images captured by IKONOS. From a 423 mile high orbit, IKONOS has a revisit time of once every three days, and it downlinks directly to more than a dozen ground stations around the world.
