All Mathematics Can Be Understood
A major Premise of this text, also reflected in the Standards, is that the ideas to which children are exposed in mathematics can and should be completely understood by them. There are no exception! In general, children are capable of learn, and they can learn it in a meaningful manner. Children must believe this, not because we tell them, but because the experiences we provide make it abundantly clear. For some the struggle to learn may take more time, but all can learn.
