The results of surface roughness parameters and contact angles of the particleboards are presented in Table 5. The particleboard type 7 (hardener type: ammonium chloride, urea usage: without urea, conditioning time: 1 month) had the smoothest surface and the lowest contact angle, while the roughest surface and highest contact angle were found for particleboard type 6 (hardener type: aluminium sulphate, urea usage: with urea, conditioning time: 1 day). One month conditioned particleboards have smoother surface than one day conditioned particleboards. This result showed that the surface quality of the particleboard improved with increasing conditioning period. The surface hardness of particleboard increases with increasing conditioning time due to incomplete condensation of UF resin after hot pressing [10].
