A8 Chip[edit]
The faster A8 chip is using a M8 coprocessor indicating motion and continuously measuring data from the following applications: the accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and a new barometer.[27] The barometer senses air pressure to determine your relative elevation. It is used in the iPhone 6 to "measure stairs climbed or hills conquered".[27] The accelerometer is able to measure distance gained by walking and running, with the use of GPS locating the user’s movements. In addition to distinguishing whether the individual is stationary or on the move, M8 works with the gyroscope to detect when a vehicle is in motion and will commence when the panoramic application is in use.
