If we compare the changing needs of a manager with the needs of employees we will see an emphasis on appreciation, respect and self-realisation. Physiological and social needs are not as crucial. The "higher" needs as described by Maslow in his pyramid may sometimes be the same for managers and employees. They will share a mutual interest in such things as equality, respect and attention, and it is in these areas that a basis for working together should be sought.
