As far as initiation of LM in any organizational set up is concerned, experts have diverse opinion and used to suggest more than one approaches. In DM, methods and procedures for improving productivity is considered as best way going towards lean. In CM, continual improvement must be the starting point for initiation of LM. The experts do not consider Six- Sigma may be useful for initial boosting of LM in either organizational set up (Fig. 3).
Conclusions
Global competition warrants an urgent need to produce quality product and cheap product and drives for LM thinking. Mindset of people plays a vital role for change phenomenon to occur. However, implementation of LM on a pilot basis for gathering knowledge and experience is believed as a moderate strategy for initiation of LM at an organizational level. Technology up gradation is not considered as a viable strategy at least in the present scenario. This survey study clearly indicates that market factors, particularly satisfaction of customer need at shortest possible time, trigger adoption of LM in any organizational set up.
