Hydroxystilbenes, naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds,
have attracted significant attention because of their
powerful free radical scavenging properties.11—13) Resveratrol
(trans-3,4,5-trihydroxystilbene), a representative of this
group, has been widely investigated for its neuroprotective
effects in various brain pathological models including experimental
cerebral ischemia.14,15)
