processes, where subgure (a) is the original frame, subgure (b) is the result of frame-
dierence, subgure (c) is the result of morphological processing, subgure (d) is the
result of region-growing, subgure (e) is the compensation region, and subgure (f) is the
nal result of crowd segmentation. In the subgure (b), the frame-dierence processing
generates an incomplete body-image with many various holes, though the background and
shadow are removed substantially. The morphological processing eectively reduces the
deciencies of bodies resulted from the frame-dierence processing, but there are some
various holes existed in bodies, as shown in the subgure (c). From the subgure (d),
the region-growing cant completely remove all holes within each body due to various
gaps which will break the growths of those seeds. By using the color-based compensation
method, the subgure (e) shows the compensation region (i.e., white area) that is dedi-
cated to ll those residual holes. Finally, the compensated body-images are described in
the subgure (f).
