While the scientific evidence shows that African-Americans seem to have, on average, greater bone mass than whites, which suggests a greater muscle mass, comparing elite athletes of different races tells us very little about the races themselves. The best players in any team sport are the best not because they are like other members of their ethnic group, but because they are not like them (or like anyone else, for that matter). Elite sportsmen and women are elite because they are on the fringes of genetic variability. And the African continent just seems to create more of these genetic outliers than do most white populations.
