The process evaluation highlighted that a third of participants found filling out the food logbook difficult and only a small number of people took part in the weekly organised walks. On the other hand, the pedometer was a major motivator, as was logging the steps on the 10,000 steps website. Further, the team aspect of our workplace intervention was valued by many participants who completed the challenge, which has been reported to enhance social support.23,24 However, it is unclear whether the competition component of the challenge provided motivation, as we did not seek this information in the process evaluation.
