1 Introduction
Art finds expression in numerous products in society, where the development of
products is complex, competitive, global and intercultural in scope. Art and computer
science are in contact from the sixties (Sedelow 1970). The advent of multi media
technology has changed art production processes and the way both music, video, and
figurative is fruited by consumers. Our assumption is that the interaction between
software technology and art is also beneficial for the software technologists.
In this context at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
we have initiated the SArt project that will explore the intersection between software
engineering (SE) and art. Our first task is to answer the following questions: How do
software engineering and art intersect? How do software engineering and art influence
and can involve each other? What has been done until now in this area by other
researchers in computer science?
