The essential oil based polymeric patches developed in the present study were safe and effective against Ae. (S) albopictus mosquitoes. The formulation patches were stable and displayed admirable physico-chemical properties at room temperature. The matrix type insect repellent patch formulation is a new approach to provide alternate mechanism to deliver repellents into the surrounding environment effectively. Current study lays down some groundwork for further optimization to improve the performance of the essential oils based repellent patch formulation to at least at par with the synthetic commercial products to provide complete protection for a longer time.
