In addition to measuring expectations and attitudes, this research provides insight to perceptions of motion and beauty.Congruent with prior research, our respondents are much more likely to view turbines in motion as beautiful then turbines not in motion. However, we add to this research by measuring the drop in our respondents’ perceived beauty of static turbines and demonstrate a positive correlation with economic beliefs and attitudes towards wind energy, suggesting a relationship between motion, economic production, and resident support. The findings of this research provides additional support to previous work conducted in the Midwest showing a high level of acceptance to wind energy technology due to the perception of economic opportunity [40,54].
