In the present study, mean (SD) total vitamin D intake
(from food sources and dietary supplements) [3.5
(4.0) lg day–1] was similar to that reported in a study
performed in Spanish women [3.6 (2.7) lg day–1]
(Rodriguez-Rodriguez et al., 2009) and was lower than
reported in an European population (mean: 3.9 lg day–1)
(Ovesen et al., 2003) and in Irish adults [mean (SD):
4.2 (3.6) lg day–1] (Hill et al., 2004).
