Interestingly, reported traditional medicinal use of Pittosporum
angustifolium has a degree of geographical specificity, regarding
the nature of ailments treated and the method of preparation.
This geographical specificity is usually only evident from examining the geographical origin of traditional uses recorded in the literature. However,in some references ,suchas Latz (2004),
geographical specificity is described implicitly.According to Latz
(2004) the Pitjantjatjara tribe from central Australia did not utilise the fruit from the plant in the same manner as tribes from other parts of the country. For example, whilst in some places the fruits were made into a concoction and drank for coughs, colds or as a lactagogue, Latz (2004) emphasised that the fruits were not
consumed by the Pitjantjatjara at all.
