Manila - The death toll from Typhoon Melor increased to 36 on Sunday, with six people still missing, according to figures from the Philippines' national emergency body and other agencies.
The agency had reported 34 deaths on Saturday.
It said one more fatality has been added to the death toll when a 21-year-old man from southern Luzon died after being hit in the head by a branch from a mango tree.
On Sunday, the civil defence office in Quezon province reported that the dead body of a 5-year-old girl was found under piles of mud and debris on Saturday evening. That death had not yet been included in the official count.
The bodies of the girl's mother and sisters, aged 10 and 1, were found earlier after a landslide in the town of Tanauan. It was not clear if this new fatality is included in the latest death toll.
Typhoon Melor left the Philippines on Friday, but a new tropical depression entered immediately, bringing more rain over the weekend.
Officials said floodwaters has yet to recede in 118 areas, while eight cities and 45 municipalities are still experiencing power outage.
More than 280 000 people remained displaced and were still staying in evacuation centres, the government said.
The typhoon left more than 160 000 houses damaged. Damage to agriculture and infrastructure is estimated at US$40m.
