Developing resistant cultivars is generally
considered the most effective and economical
means for BPH control. Accordingly, breeding for
resistant cultivars has become a priority in rice improvement.
At least 12 resistance genes have been
identified and several have been located on the chromosomes
via trisomic analysis or linkage to molecular
markers.
