In 2006, Kim and coworkers studied Urea/thiourea-based colorimetric chemosensors for the biologically important ions. They found that the receptors effectively and selectively recognize the biologically important Fluoride ion over other anions such as Chloride and Bromide via the hydrogen bond interaction.
