WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- A man is shot by a deputy at the Juvenile Justice Center in Waukesha.
Authorities tell WISN 12 News a deputy assigned to the center was involved in a struggle with a man who was there for a court hearing. The 34-year-old man from Hartland tried to disarm the deputy, according to police. It was during the struggle that the deputy's gun went off and the man was shot in the leg.
The man was taken to Froedtert Hospital. The deputy was not hurt.
The deputy is 44-years-old and a 16-year veteran of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. He will be placed on administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard protocol, according to WISN.
