A combination of ultrasound (power output-50 W; duty cycle-
50%; and extraction time-15 min) and enzyme pre-treatment
(Stargen 002–64 U/g of substrate; Accellerase 1500–90 FPU/g
of substrate; and incubation time-60 min) was given to C. forskohlii
root powder prior to SC-CO2 extraction of FSK as reported in our
previous work on extraction of FSK by three phase partitioning
(Harde and Singhal, 2012) with an aim to check if pressure for
SC-CO2 extraction of FSK could be reduced. Pre-treated and airdried
C. forskohlii root powder was then extracted using previously
optimized conditions of flow rate, temperature and time but with
varying pressure in the range of 100–250 bar. The SC-CO2 extracts
were then estimated for the content of FSK.
