1.2. Factors influencing technology acceptance and adoption
1.2.1. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use
Perceived usefulness is the user’s beliefs about how useful a piece of technology is for achieving a certain goal. Specifically in a work environment where technology can be used to enhance job performance, perceived usefulness may play a significant role in encouraging adoption of new systems. Perceived ease of use encourages intention to use because individuals who perceive themselves capable of carrying out an action are more likely to do so (Bandura, 1982; Davis, 1989) and individuals are more likely to pursue a course of action that they feel will deliver the greatest amount of gain for the least amount of effort (Beach & Mitchell, 1978).
