There are numerous arguments against capital punishment. First, I will start by stating that the capital punishment or death penalty can be equated with murder. We train our young ones at a tender age that two wrongs never make a right. With this in mind, I tend to wonder why these teachings are not relevant to the top institutions of social order.
Capital punishment is obstinate and it infracts human rights. This phenomenon is not new in China, which in the past did away with capital punishment between the years 1747 and 1759. The modern abolition movement was invigorated by Italian César Becaria in his 1764 publication: Of Crimes and Punishments. César contended that capital punishment was not only an injustice in itself but also a pointless practice (Bonesana, 1764).
