The ViewPlus Translator translates standard text to braille in three easy steps. You will find it is just like printing from your Windows based applications to your laser or inkjet printer—only now you have perfectly embossed texts and/or tactile graphics when you are finished. This tutorial will teach you how to use the translation software.
1. Enter Text to be Translated
Enter the following text into a new Microsoft Word document: “This text will be translated to braille.” Go to FILE, then SAVE.
NOTE: It is important to save documents be- fore translating. Once saved, you can retrieve the original document if you need to make changes or for any reason you should need access the original document. If unsaved, after you perform the translation it takes several keystrokes to restore the document to its original format.
2. Starting the Translator
Open the Tiger Translator Lite through your START menu. Select the following: PROGRAMS, then VIEWPLUS followed by VIEWPLUS TRANSLATOR.
The first time you open the ViewPlus Translator you will want to go through the Setup to choose your default settings. In
the Setup window that appears, select your desired output style, which may be either contracted braille or un-contracted braille. You may also change the output font so that it displays with braille dots by selecting Braille in the output font window. Selecting Braille ASCII will display ASCII or braille on your screen. Once you have set up your Translator options, you will not have to again unless you want to cha
3. Translate Document
Once you are ready to translate the docu- ment, select TRANSLATE APPLICATION TEXT and choose TRANSLATE in the follow- ing dialog box. You will see your text automati- cally translated to braille on your screen.
4. Emboss Document
Select FILE, PRINT and choose the emboss- er you are printing to in the PRINTER NAME drop down box. Next, select OK.
