Two-step method for biodiesel production from Chlorella sp. KR-1
FAMEs were synthesized using a two-step method consisting of DMC-mediated lipid extraction, followed by Novozyme
435-catalyzed transesterification of the extracted lipids into FAMEs. A mixture of DMC and methanol was used as the extraction solvent for the microalgae lipids; DMC was then employed as the substrate for the synthesis of FAMEs from triglycerides. The FAMEs were synthesized in a yield of 250–298 mg FAMEs per gram of microalgae biomass.
