Plant height of both cultivars (‘AF-1661’ and ‘Slice Max’) decreased significantly
(P≤0.05) with increasing of the NaCl concentration in the nutrient solution (Fig. 1). There
were also differences between growth of both cultivars evaluated. ‘AF-1661’ grown on
150 mM NaCl had significant reductions in plant height, while ‘Slice Max’ showed
significant reductions even with 50 mM. The supply of 200 mM NaCl declined the
growth in 23.3 and 37.5% in ‘AF-1661’ and ‘Slice Max’, respectively, in comparison to
control plants. Similar responses were obtained in other cultivars of cucumber
