In addition, it has been pointed out that education content
and delivery must be uniquely suited to the audience (Kontos et
al., 1992). A “one size fits all” approach cannot be equally effective
for a diverse group of participants. The education must be
tailored to the needs, experience, prior education, and abilities of
the participants. Epstein (1993) found that exemplary, in-house
trainers, who emphasized active participation and sharing experiences,
showed the highest levels of developmentally appropri-
ate adult-child interactions and the most positive developmental
outcomes.
