Shocking death
Vets examine body of whale
The body of a whale that washed up on a Samut Prakan beach at the end of June is thought to have died from shock after becoming trapped in a fishing net, experts said on July 3.
Veterinary nurse Nuntarika Chansoe from Chulalongkorn University’s Veterinary Medical Aquatic Animal Research Centre said the dead whale was male and less than 10 years old. It weighed 80 tonnes and was 11.27 metres long.
According to the vet, marks and wounds on the whale’s carcass suggested it had been tied with ropes or trapped in nets.
