The nonrandomness of the choice of an installation site of the monument to the hetman combiner which is solemnly opened on July 11, 1888 at Sofiyskaya Square in Kiev within celebration of the 900 anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus' is obvious. On this square in December, 1648 Kiev residents met the Cossack shelves led by Bogdan Khmelnytsky which have entered the city after a victory over Polish shlyakhty under Pilyavtsami, exactly here in January, 1654 the population of Kiev met the Russian ambassadors headed by the boyar Buturlin after Pereyaslavskoy Rada. Exactly here, at Bogdan Khmelnytsky Square, nearly 300 years later after a victory under Pilyavtsami in November, 1943 the population of Kiev freed from fascist invaders has gathered, welcoming winner soldiers.
