Tear gas is supplied to police in canisters and holsters. Occasionally, such canisters may leak or become self-activated, and discharge the tear gas. Such localized dermatitis occurs usually on the hip near the belt line of the police officer who is wearing a can of Mace. Watson and Rycroft13 reported 7 cases of reactions to CS in policemen. Three had ACD, documented by patch tests diluted to 0.000% in acetone. The others had ICD along with worsening of seborrheic dermatitis (1 case), rosacea (2), or leukodermma (1)
