Pearson correlations of the dependent variable and the predictor variables are summarized in Table 3. Number of years in fire services, noise exposure at work, perceived hearing ability, interpersonal influences, choice of HPDs, fire service organizational support for health, perceived selfefficacy in use of HPDs, perceived benefits of using HPDs, perceived barriers to using HPDs, perceived susceptibility to hearing loss, and perceived severity of hearing loss were all significantly related to HPD use. Gender and ethnicity (white versus non-white) were not significantly related to HPD use. All correlations between independent variables were smaller than .5, thus, multicollinearity was not a concern.
