This competitive relationship associated with increases in world mass tourism leads to ‘new’
tourist movement with friendlier to the environment activities. The type of tourism that is
most representative in a ‘friendlier’ relationship with the environment (built and natural) is
the ecotourism and all the alternative forms of tourism (agro-tourism, tourism of adventure,
tourism in the nature, etc.) that are encompassed by this term [18].
UNEP, in a report on ‘tourism and the environment’, underlines the need for programmes
of guidance and education. It stresses the necessity for information and education of both the
visitors and the residents working in the ecotourism sites and local enterprises, and in general
for everyone who is associated with this sensitive issue. It also stresses the need for organized
action in order to avoid negative effects in the local culture and environment [20].
