It is not a trivial question, to ask: what is the level of knowledge and/or awareness of climate change challenges (CCC), energy conservation (EG) and greenhouse gas reduction (-GHG) among both the population in general and, perhaps more importantly, among those involved in the planning, decision making, or policy-making process. The extant literature provides us with several clues about ‘‘who knows what’’; two recent surveys by the American Planning Association provide detail glimpses of US planners (American Planning Association, 2005,2007).
