(Framework law on higher education)The 1968 framework law, called the Edgar Faure Law, was the
basic legislative framework for university organization in France. The law provided for academic,
administrative and financial autonomy of the universities, which replaced the old faculties. This law has
not been repealed and those provisions not in contradiction with those of the law on higher education
dated 26/01/1984 remain in force. (p.6)
