FOOTNOTES
Tribal Marks Series II follows Olatunji's first exploration of the practice of tribal facial markings in contemporary Nigeria. Each portrait demonstrates Olatunji's characteristic hyper-realist style and technical proficiency.
Olatunji takes as his subject the age-old practice of facial scarification. The portraits do not depict real-life individuals; they are drawn from the artist's imagination. Olatunji's fictional sitters are given complete histories; personality, character, skin-type and even medical history inform these portraits.
