• The input data files (NUV and FUV all-sky data and diffuse
background spectrum).
• Angular cut-off limit: input data consists of sky background towards
different directions which are unevenly sampled. Each
pixel in the output image will have contributions from sky background
within the angular cut-off limit, weighted down by the
square of the angular distance. The default cut-off value is 3°.
• Cosecant scale factor: since regions close to the Galactic plane
are not covered by GALEX, we use a cosecant law to simulate
the diffuse background in these regions.
The calculated background (data) is stored in a two dimensional
array.
