3. Results and discussion
3.1. Optimization of growth parameters for strain USTBa and
biosurfactant production
The success of bioremediation of oil spill not only depends on
the ability of the strains but also on the physical, chemical and biological
conditions of the contaminated environment [27]. In the
present work, the strain USTBa was studied for growth at different
conditions of temperature, pH, and NaCl concentration. The strain USTBa displays the maximum growth at 35 C, pH 6.0, and 6.0%
(w/v) NaCl when incubated in MSM supplemented with 2.0%
(w/v) crude oil for 7 days of incubation period as depicted in
Fig. 1a–c, respectively. The maximum dry biomass of 4.8 g/L was
