III. GRID-BASED INFORMATION RETRIEVAL
Grid-based information retrieval is capable of searching vast amounts of geographically distributed information, which in many cases could not be searched effectively, if at all, by a traditional search engine such as those available on the web.
The types of documents that Grid-based search engine will process include unstructured text and heterogeneously structured text in the form of text files, web pages, and text stored in databases.
