NOAA uses SST index for identifying El Niño (warm) and La Niña (cool) events in the tropical Pacific. It is the seasonal mean SST anomaly for the Niño3 region and the Niño3.4 region. Strong events are defined above the ≥1.5°C anomaly for warm (El Niño) events and at or below the ≤-1.5°C anomaly for cold (La Niña) events .It was found that, three strong El Niño and three strong La Niña from Niño3, five strong El Niño and five strong La Niña from Niño3.4 for DJF. For MAM found two strong El Niño from Niño3. While JJA found one strong El Niño and two strong La Niña from Niño3, one strong El Niño from Niño3.4. For SON found three El Niño and four La Niña from Niño3 and Niño3.4.Strong ENSO events are listed in Table
