Not only school, but also parents and/or family members have a crucial role in developing and nurturing a child’s literacy skills. Based on this rationale, the presentation session will report the findings of the case study on improving English literacy skills of a nine year-old child via telephone. The focal participant was the schoolboy who, reported by his teacher and mother, struggled to learn English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The study used a qualitative approach in which field notes and face-to-face interviews were conducted with the boy and his mother after five-month tutoring lessons. The tutoring lessons for the boy were arranged via telephone in the evening five days a week. The lessons lasted about 15 minutes a day.
