DMR stands for Data Maintenance Request. There are various reasons for a DMR, example the addition or deletion of the data element, a change of the current business process and information models, codes or the Message Implementation Guideline (MIG).
According to the Data Model Maintenance by the WCO, the Information Management Sub-Committee (IMSC) of the WCO is responsible for the maintenance of the WCO Data Model, updating it with changing requirements in the cross-border trade environment. IMSC has the Data Model Project Team (DMPT) as one of its subordinate working groups. DMPT discusses all issues associated with the technical aspects of the WCO Data Model including DMRs. It analyses and approves, rejects or defers DMR’s and report the outcome to IMSC for the final approval.
The WCO Data Model is an international standard, hence the DMR process is a critical aspect of its integrity and overall value. Customs Administrations of WCO Members can submit a DMR for the WCO Data Model.
