Child’s independence within the home
Parents spoke about their child’s ability to assist with household
chores and complete self-care tasks such as bathing, toileting,
dressing and feeding oneself independently or with assistance. As

tasks limited children’s opportunities to engage with friends.
I’ve sent5Mason’s brother4off to the neighbours and Mason
wants to go, but I can’t let him. He can’t go over there without
me being there...I just don’t feel that I can put that on
someone else because if he wants to go to the toilet (because
he still needs a bit of help to get on the toilet), or he can have
an accident and it can go everywhere.
