According to the numerical and experimental values obtained
through this study, the interpreted results are summarized as
follows.
The total weight of the brick was decreased significantly because
the weight of the composite brick is accounted for the pumice
blocks’ weight even though pumice is a naturally light material.
Therefore, with the weight reduction of pumice, the whole brick
weight was decreased.
The stress occurring on the brick under load was decreased
while the thickness of pumice was decreased. As known, pumice
is a brittle and heavier material compared to EPS; therefore, when
the thickness of pumice was reduced the stress occurring on the
brick was significantly decreased because; as the pumice thickness
was reduced the whole composite brick became elastic. Thus, the
generated stress on an elastic material is lower than a hard and
brittle material. Hence it is strongly recommended that pumice
thickness should be decreased as much as possible.
