This paper showcases the reduction in false detection rate
by application of correlation which extracts the non-static
property of fire and x-ray film which reduces the effect of
ambient sunlight. Fire detection algorithm costs an average of
20 ms per image which is close to reality. Matlab is run on a
PC with intel(R) core i7, 2.4GHz CPU and 8GB RAM. The
algorithm is simple and can be easily implemented on a beagle
board or raspberry pi. A versatile platform is constructed which
contains a robotic arm for extinguishing system and scanning
bracket (holds camera) for a wide field of view.
