Calif. Man Arrested After Pointing Laser Light Into Cockpit
A California man was arrested in Los Angeles after he pointed a “powerful green laser light” into the cockpit of a commercial airliner. Authorities say he then did the same thing to a police airplane that was searching for the offending light.
"Almost immediately, the cockpit of the (Lancaster Sheriff´s Office) airplane was illuminated several times with the powerful light, causing distraction and temporary visual impairment to the pilot," the L.A. Sheriff´s Office said.
27-year-old Cory Lien was arrested and charged with discharging a laser. He was jailed on $25,000 bail.
