Plastic and fabric doors offer little security. An intruder can cut through them. Most rolling and folding doors have breakaway features, so an intruder can use a vehicle to push through the door. Overhead sectional doors offer considerably more security, although not as much as a conventional exterior doors. However, the breakaway features make them vulnerable. In many models, the door can be locked to the frame with sliding bolts (cane bolts). The number
of bolts increases with the number of panels that break away. The staff must remember to insert the bolts during
periods when the facility is not operating, and to remove them before traffic starts. Some manufacturers may offer
doors with automatic bolts that unlock when the door is activated.
