LANGUAGE, 1) natural language, the most important means of human communication. Language is inseparably linked with thinking; is social means of storage and information transfer, one of controls human behavior. Language has arisen along with emergence of society in the course of a joint labor activity of primitive people. Emergence of the articulate speech was a powerful tool of further development of the person, society and consciousness. It is realized and exists in the speech. Languages of the world differ with a structure, dictionary structure, etc., however some general regularities, the system organization of units of language (e.g., the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations between them), etc. are inherent in all languages. Language changes in time (see the Diachrony), can cease to be used in the sphere of communication (dead languages). Kinds of language (national language, literary language, dialects, language cult, etc.) play various role in life of society. 2) Any sign system, e.g. mathematical language, cinema, sign language.
