We’ll admit it. Speakaboos is a great place to work. We get to make interactive stories we know will inspire a love of reading in kids around the world. And, we get to do this from the tech hub of an amazing city – the Flatiron District in New York City!
Hard to believe, but we recently learned that we could have an even better day at work thanks to the fine folks at Pajama Program, a non-profit organization that delivers warm sleepwear and nurturing books to kids in need. Since 2001, the organization has provided over 4,000,000 new pajamas and books to kids across the country. Pajama Program also has Reading Centers including one right in our NYC neighborhood, serving thousands of kids in the local community including many who are waiting to be adopted. Upon learning about Pajama Program’s mission, we jumped at the opportunity to support the organization and give back in our community.
The entire Speakaboos team – from story creators to app developers to our CEO – spent time sitting and reading with some of the children who benefit from Pajama Program. Their enthusiasm for reading was infectious! It always feels good to give back and we’re honored to have been welcomed by Pajama Program into their colorful, warm and engaging space for kids to read and learn. We saw first-hand the positive impact reading can have on children and we’re feeling even more inspired to continue creating high-quality, educational digital stories for kids to #ChooseReading. Photos from this great day at the Pajama Program Reading Center are below!
