The aphrodisiac property of aqueous extract of Butea frondosa was
suggested to be due to its potential to decrease 5-hydroxytryptamine
(5-HT) in rat brain (Ramachandran et al., 2004; Lau et al., 2006). In
our study, both the extracts of Butea frondosa bark have also shown
moderate ROCK-II inhibition indicating that Butea frondosa exerts its
action on the erectile process per se as well as influences the central
nervous system (CNS).
