Note! Usually each mistake in storing affects the whole stack.
General requirements for precuring and settling storage:
- A covered, semi-warm (> + 10 ºC) area.
- The location in the immediate vicinity of the process.
- The storing base (rails or similar) for product stacks must be flat
and even.
- The area requirement for the precuring storage in one line/one
shift operation is 300 m² at the minimum. The final area requirement
for the storage depends on the production quantity/shift and
the storing method.
Product storing
Fresh, non-cured products can only be handled as single stacks. The
stacks are not allowed to be piled at any stage of precuring. The stacks
are backed by steel pallets. The steel pallets do not totally prevent the
products from bending, if the storage base is not flat. Possible bends
caused by internal transportation during processing will straighten during
proper storing.
For making sure that the topmost product in the stack will cure straight,
the stacks must be covered for precuring with a moisture retaining material
e.g. plastic to prevent the top surface from drying faster than the
other parts of the product. A fresh stack can be without a cover for max.
three (3) hours.
Transportation of Stacks to the Precuring Storage
Note! The stacks are moved with extreme care.
The stacks are picked from the stack conveyor by a forklift or crane at
any time.
Note! The forklift might stop the stacker's operation.
The forklift must be driven straight to the middle of a stack. The stack is
moved as one unit to the following free space in the storage circulation.
The stack is taken as far as possible on the storage line. No sudden
movements are allowed during transportation. Do not tilt the stack while
lifting, keep it horizontally straight.
Fresh stacks must be carefully handled. Sudden movements might
cause damages to fresh products. Unnecessary extra lifting and lowering
must be avoided.
