Ball spray devices are used to clean process and storage tanks. Cylindrical and rectangular tanks are cleaned using liquid feed rates of 8-12 L/min m2 internal surface, while vertical silos require liquid rates of 25-35 L/min m tank circumference. Adequate inclination (slope) of piping and process vessels is essential for self-draining of process and cleaning liquids.
Usually, food equipment must be cleaned daily, after a processing period. However, when different products are processed in the same equipment, cleaning depends also on the frequency of product changes.
